Practitioners of both conventional and alternative medicine agree that in certain matters of your health, hypnosis is an effective treatment. Just like any other medicine or therapy that has to do with any part of your health, hypnosis is not for everyone. Two of the most frustrating physical conditions that you can experience are painful, flaky itching in patches of your skin – or sweating buckets for no known reason. This is why a lot of people prefer to go to a hypnotherapist for the first couple of health hypnosis sessions and then, once they get the feel of it, try it for themselves in the comfort of their own homes.

There are also a lot of self-hypnosis DVDs, CDs and tapes available, many with pre-recorded messages for your subconscious. You will probably have to sort through many self-hypnosis CDs on breaking bad habits such as smoking or overeating before you find any generic items. There are also self-hypnosis websites, but this writer can't whole-heartedly recommend them to anyone who is headache prone, as they can sometimes show images which give eyestrain.

In time and with practice, and faith in yourself, you can help your physical and mental health with judicious use of hypnosis.
