As the baby boomers continue to enter into retirement, there will be always be a growing need for elder liaisons or elderly care liaisons. In this profession, you will be required to coordinate the care for the elderly patients you are managing.

Instructions

Step One: The first step you will need to make is to define who will be involved in the situation. This would include the elderly patient that you are caring for, along with a family member that is or isn't living with the elderly person. Friends, neighbors, paid caregiver, doctors, attorneys, nurses and individuals that handle the patient's finances can also be a part of the equation.

Step Two: Next, you will need to lay out the roles of all the people that are involved. Make sure that you explain the role you play, since a lot of people don't know what an elderly care liaison is.

Step Three: While working with your elderly patient you will need to know how to resolve conflicts effectively. When there are a lot of people involved in the care of an older individual, there is bound to be one or more conflicts.

Step Four: Being respectful of the wants of the elderly individual you are caring after is important. As their liaison, you are required to be considerate of what they want, then try your best to accommodate.

Step Five: You will have to respect the privacy of your patient as well. Remaining confidential is important, so you shouldn't share any patient information with others unless it is beneficial for the patient.

Step Six: If you suspect that there is any neglect or abuse in your patient's case, be prepared to report it. It is your responsibility to ensure that your patient is receiving proper care at all times.
