Are you looking to start a career as a pharmacist? Then read on to see the necessary steps you will have to make to help get you started in your new occupation.

Instructions

Step One: The first thing you need to do is to earn a doctorate's degree in pharmacy. In order to get a Ph.D., you will have to go through four years of school. Afterward, you will have to do two years of professional training or courses.

Step Two: Next, you will need to go and get your license to practice as a pharmacist. You will need to check with your state to see what the requirements are to obtain a license. You will need to complete practice hours, a criminal background check and an exam for licensure. The degree you obtain will have to be from an accredited college as well.

Step Three: After you obtain your license in your state, you will need to complete a residency or fellowship requirements. Before you are able to work in a clinic or lab, many employers want candidates to meet certain residency practice or hours before they can obtain an actual position. On the other hand, if you will be starting your own business, you won't have to worry about completing a residency.

These are basically all of the steps that you have to complete in order to start a pharmacist career. You can find programs to train you in the field at a tech school, community college or university. Make sure that the school you choose is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.
