Basic Duties
Once you enter into this health care field, you will find yourself with multiple job duties. Some include taking care of anesthesia equipment, such as cleaning, disinfecting and assembling them. In some cases, you could be required to prepare anesthesia for the patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Specialized Duties
As an anesthesia technician, you will have to monitor operation equipment, while patients are having surgery done. You may also have to ensure that anesthesia supplies are stocked at all times (like emergency airway bags).
Qualifications
In order to become an anesthesia technician, you will have to have a high school diploma or GED, and attend a medical training school. Some of the training you will be required to undergo includes basic life support, the operation of medical equipment and infection control.
Working Environment
Once you obtain your accreditation to work in this field, you may end up working long hours and could have an irregular schedule, such as working on nights, weekends and holidays. It all depends on the work assignment at hand. Wherever you work, it will be sterile - this could be in hospital operating rooms, clinics or a private practice.

The average annual income for anesthesia technicians is around $31,657. Of course, the amount you are paid all depends on your training, experience, location and place of employment.
