Step One: If you love language and writing, then you may enjoying working as a medical transcriber. Also, if you are great with language and have a deep understanding of it, you will fit perfectly into this career choice. A lot of medical transcriptionists enjoy doing word puzzles and other things to improve their language skills.



Step Two: Along with good language skills, you will have to have good written skills as well. Meaning that you will have to be knowledgeable about spelling and grammar. As a medical transcriber you will have to create documents about patient records and doctor's notes and must produce quality documents. The words you come across must be spelled correctly; and you will come across medical words that are complex.

Step Three: If you're comfortable working under a deadline, you may find it okay to work as a medical transcriptionist. In this field, you will have to meet deadlines that are sometimes tight.

Step Four: Typing skills is another skill set that you will need to possess. If you are good with keyboards and are able to type quickly, you will find medical transcribing to be easy for you.

Step Five: You will have to learn medical terminology, so that you know what they are when you hear them and how to spell them.

Step Six: You will also need to be able to adapt easily to changes. The medical field is always changing and adding new medical terminology. So there's always something new to learn.
