If you're looking to become a medical office manager, you will be in charge of just about everything that has to do with the medical office. You will have to hire and train new employees, greet patients and control the inventory of the office.

You can become a medical office manager by earning it through years of experience and promotions, working your way up from a secretary or medical assistant. Then there are others that go to school to get training for the field -- like with the medical office management degree. Some of the training you would receive includes customer communication and doing office tasks like insurance billing.

Instructions

Step One: The first thing you need to do is find a school that fits your needs. If you're looking to go to school part time while you work, you can do so. Just find one that is offered at night or that has part time day hours. Most certificate and degree programs for medical office management can take between one and two years to complete. Some even go as far as obtaining a bachelor's degree. It isn't required by all medical offices, but some may require you to have a master's degree.

Step Two: The next thing you need to do is study hard to learn about various subjects involving medical terminology, coding, billing, computers and software, physiology, anatomy and patient privacy. You will also learn about a various medical office procedures as well. Once you learn everything you need to know, running the office will be simple.

Step Three: Now, it is time to gain some hands-on experience. After you graduate, you can either take an internship or externship, which is required by many medical office manager programs. While you're in it, you will learn leadership and communication skills.
