Undergraduate Work
There aren't any specific majors that you are required to have in order to get into an occupational therapy graduate program. There are, however, some preferences of what you should be taking, so make sure to check with the program, so that you sign up for the right courses. Some like to take majors in subjects like liberal art, psychology and biology. You also have the option of obtaining a bachelor's degree or master's degree. Some have it to where you can study for both, it is a combined program. Once you finish the course you will have a bachelor's and master's degree as an occupational therapist.
Graduate Work
Once you have acquired your bachelor's degree, you will be able to enter into an entry level master's degree or doctoral degree program - just make sure that it is accredited. Afterward, you will be able to obtain a license in your state for practicing in the field. A lot of research is implemented into the doctoral degree program as well. The master's degree options you have include the Master of Occupational Therapy, Master of Science and Master of Art.
Post Professional
If you have acquired a doctoral degree, you will have the option of completing a post professional program, which will allow you to specialize in a special field. You can choose this specialty based on the type of patients you want to deal with, such as pediatrics or mental health.
