Job Description of a Radiologist Assistant
As a radiologist assistant, you will work under the radiologist, who you will help perform procedures, gather information from patients and help patients prepare for the procedures. Working as a radiology technician, you will also be required to view tests and report the results to the physicians that request them.
First Step in Becoming a Radiologist Assistant
If you would like to become a radiology technician, you will have to spend two years in school training. Afterward, you will have to take the state licensing exam.
Bachelor Programs
Once you have finished your training for radiology, you can get into a radiologist assistant program. To get a bachelor's degree, you will have to spend four years in school.
Masters Programs
Interested in getting a master's in science in radiology assistance? You will have to first obtain a bachelor's degree; in most cases it takes two years to complete. You can get the post-baccalaureate certificate as an assistant in radiology, once you have a bachelor's degree (this is another option other than the master's degree.
Obtaining Your License
The last thing you will need to do after completing schooling is to pass the state board exam for your license. The state that you receive your license in is the state that you must be the requirements for. Every state has different qualifications. Once you have acquired your license, you will be able to work for physician offices, imaging centers and hospitals.
