The mission of the Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS) is to provide specialized behavioral /interventions/services to adolescents and children in their caseload. He/She follows a detailed treatment plan, which the Behavioral Specialist Consultant (BSC) or the Mobile Therapist (MT) created. The BSC and/or MT will supervise all specialized behavioral services and interventions provided by the TSS. He/She must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills to provide these services to clients with a wide variety of mental health needs.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree (preferably in a Human Services field) or be a licensed RN/LPN with at least one to three years of experience working with children or adolescents. The TSS may have an associate’s degree or 60 college credits with the equivalent of at least three years full-time experience in a job that involved direct contact with children or adolescents. He/She must have certifications in CPR/First Aid and an unrestricted driver's license. In addition, he/she must be proficient with computers and able to intervene and control agitated clients through non-physical interventions.
The following is a representative list of duties and responsibilities associated with this position:
-- Provide one-on-one behavioral interventions to client
-- Assist parent/caregiver and/or teacher with implementation of behavior plan
-- Monitor client’s behaviors emphasized in the treatment plan
-- Intervene and redirect challenging behaviors
-- Collaborate with team members
-- Must work in context of transferring skills to others (e.g. parents, teachers, camp counselors)
-- Complete all paperwork within policy time frames
-- Attend monthly treatment team meetings with client, family, and treatment team
-- Provide services within authorized amount of hours per week
-- Attend staff meetings
-- Comply with all BHRS policies
-- Attend training (must have 20 hours per year if an experienced TSS; non experienced need 39 hours of training within the first six months of hire)
-- Ability to develop therapeutic rapport with treatment team, clients, and families
-- Attend weekly supervision with Masters-level mental health professional
-- Travel to and from client sites to perform services
-- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree (preferably in a Human Services field) or be a licensed RN/LPN with at least one to three years of experience working with children or adolescents
One to three years full-time experience (depending on educational degree) working with children and adolescents
Certifications in CPR/First Aid
Communication and interpersonal skills to develop relationships with clients, staff, and providers
Demonstrates patience, good judgment, and the ability and interest to work with clients with mental health issues
Able to intervene and control agitated clients through non-physical interventions
Genuine desire to work with clients who have mental health problems
Strong computer and internet skills
Able to problem solve and work effectively with others
Unrestricted driver's license in this state
