JOB\nDESCRIPTION

The Team Lead contributes to\nthe diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients by accurately\nprocessing surgical pathology specimens. Responsibilities include\nprocessing, embedding, and microtomy of all surgical tissues; cryotomy\nand frozen section staining; routine H&E and special staining; small\ntissue gross examination/tissue processing; equipment maintenance and\nrecord retention; and knowledge of pathology Laboratory Information\nSystem. Responsible for the day to day operations of surgical\npathology or histology department in the absence of the histology\nsupervisor. Maintains complete and accurate documentation of data\ngenerated and work performed; assists in Quality Management and\nproblem solving; participates in testing and implementation of new\nequipment; develops protocols and QC slides; helps train new\npersonnel; monitors supplies as needed; helps coordinate staff shift\ncoverage and workload distribution; and assists in other activities as\ndirected. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and\ndevelopment of the life span. The ability to assess data reflective of\nthe patient's status and appropriately interpret information\nrelative to the patient's age-specific needs is required.May be\nresponsible for handling chemicals and/or reagents including chemical\nhazardous waste materials.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's\ndegree in biology, chemistry or allied health required. Minimum four\nyears of experience in all phases of routine histology required. \n***Must have experience with Ventana instrumentationn and\nImmunohistochemistry test validation***

OTHER\nQUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem\nsolving skills. Strong leadership skills and demonstrated good\njudgment in dealing with a variety of procedural and technical issues.\nBachelor's degree in biological sciences and experience in test\ndevelopment and immunohistochemistry preferred. ***Additional\nexperience with Immunofluorescence and In-situ Hybridisation**** \nInternal applicants are required to attach their three most recent\nperformance appraisals.

HOURS/PAY PERIOD: 80
SCHEDULE DETAILS: Must be able to work\nan 8.5 hour shift Monday through Friday between 4:00am 6:30pm.
WEEKEND\nSCHEDULE: As needed.

COMPENSATION DETAIL: Education, experience, and\ntenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers\nare extended. The minimum pay rate is $25.16 per hour.
