Description
***Ten or more years in clinical managerial role in health care delivery, preferably managing and Operating Room, PACU or Ambulatory Surgery Center. Master's Degree in related position preferred. Operating rooms are open Mon-Fri ten hr days.***
This position will be based in our new South Baltimore center.
The Director of Perioperative Services has operational accountability for the all the perioperative services in a Medical Center (Service Area) including the ambulatory surgical center(s) outpatient procedure suites, operating rooms, PACU, central sterile processing, pre-surgical testing, & surgery scheduling. This position is responsible for the assessment, planning, & implementation of care for the ambulatory surgery population and the operational oversight of the functional areas to assure they meet or exceed quality, cost & clinical and utilization standards & performance measurements. This position sets a tone that ensures all areas under their leadership function in a unified and cohesive manner to ensure the best possible outcomes for the members.
This position reports directly to the Area Administrator for the respective Medical Center (DC/SM, NOVA or Baltimore)
ms are consistent w/ Mid-Atlantic philosophy & objectives, & efficient & effective administrative & clinical practices are provided.
Key functions
• Partners with Medical Center and Regional Health Plan & Medical Group leaders to maximize the resource of the surgeon, ensure operational efficiency, & provide excellent quality, patient satisfying care in a safe environment.
• In collaboration with partners (above) & Area Administrator & Physician In Chief, establishes goals & targets addressing access, service, people, quality, & facilities & systems.
• Analyzes systems and processes by which all perioperative services are delivered & implements &/or recommends changes and innovations.
• Leads implementation efforts for new systems & programs while involving staff & communicating expectations, progress, & opportunities of projects.
• Ensures all Perioperative staff in trained & competent for the duties they are assigned.
• Promotes optimal patient care that is in compliance with federal, state & local requirements by supporting and maintaining nursing standards and perioperative department policies & procedures.
• Develops, establishes & implements policies & procedures in collaboration w/ Anesthesiology, Service Chiefs, Medical Director of the ASC, & staff (surgical scheduling, pre-surgical testing, surgery, post anesthesia care unit), & management team.
• Assures compliance with standards & requirements of regulatory, licensing & accreditation agencies.
• Manages & monitors staff performance by establishing accountabilities & performance goals related to overall goals & targets, providing the tools to do the job, coaching, giving feedback, counseling, providing training & development, & giving appropriate rewards & recognition to ensure a high functioning team.

Minimum requirements:
• seven years progressive background in clinical & managerial roles in a health care delivery system required.
• five years of current Operating Room &/or PACU background or similar relevant professional training & administrative background required.
• 5 yrs background in managerial role or documented leadership background required.
• Graduation from an licensed institution of nursing required.
• Bachelor's degreerequired.
• Licensed as a registered nurse in the jurisdiction of practice required.
• Active ACLS and PALS certification required.
Preferred Requirements:
• ten or more years in clinical managerial role in health care delivery, preferably managing an Operating Room, PACU or Ambulatory Surgery Center.
• Master's degree in related position preferred.
• Certification as an Operating Room Nurse(CNOR) preferred.
