It has been predicted that there will be a 20 percent or higher increase in demands for health information tech positions, including medical billing and coding.

A survey was taken back in 2008 that showed that since there was a lack of qualified candidates to fill the available vacancies in medical billing and coding. Obtaining an education from colleges and vocational schools helps to increase the job outlook for this field.

To increase opportunities as a medical biller and coder, you can obtain specialized certificates. It has been noted that some employers like to higher coders and billers that are very knowledgeable about codes within a certain area in health care.
