To get into this field, you will have to go through years of training and become board certified before practicing.

In this field, you will have to work with patients in a variety of areas dealing with reproductive disorders. Some of the people you will have to work with as a gynecological endocrinologist are women who have suffered through multiple miscarriages or who are unable to conceive. Women that have irregular or abnormally heavy periods, fibroids or other discomforts associated with menopause are also on your client list.



Numbers

In the field of reproductive endocrinology, it is very specialized in the medical industry. There have been reports from the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility that there are less than 1,000 physicians that are board certified.

Training

To become a gynecological endocrinologist, you will have to complete four years of training in a medical school. Then you will have to complete a residency in gynecology and obstetrics. If you would like to become certified in a specialty, you will have to complete an additional three years in reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship at a school that is board certified.

Certification

After you have completed training to become a reproductive endocrinologist, you will have to receive certification from the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, also known as the ABOG. This association is affiliated with the ACOG (American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists) as well.
