As a case manager, your job is to manage the required medical services and health care for clients. They are known to work within insurance companies, hospitals, schools, government agencies and department of human services.

To begin working in case management, you will have to obtain a bachelor's degree in the field of human services like nursing, psychology, mental health, education or social work. Many employers want to hire candidates that have a bachelor's degree in these fields. If you have computer skills and case management experience, that is a plus.

Some of the duties you will have as a case manager are to conduct sessions and assess the clients you work with. You will act as advocates for the people you work for and collaborate with coworkers to create a plan that fits the need of the client.



When working in case management, you will need to have the practices, principles and ideas of the field. Having multitasking skills is also great to have, without losing your self-control. Having the skills to understand and process ideas and resolve conflicts are also great to have.

As a case manager, you will be working in environments that have different levels of noise. You may be working within a cubicle or outside in different kinds of weather.

The annual salaries for case managers are between $55,000 and $66,000 in the U.S. The average annual salary is around $60,000.
