There is a steady increase for the demand of x-ray technicians. It is growing faster than average, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Many of the people that are working in this field are employed within imaging centers, hospitals, clinics and outpatient centers. While in x-ray technology, you will have to continue learning in order to keep working in this field.

Step One: The first thing you will have to do is get your high school diploma. From there, you will be able to enter into an x-ray tech program that is accredited. You will need to have a diploma or GED to get in. Some of the courses you will study for include physics, math, chemistry and biology. If you can take these classes while in high school, it will greatly help you when you get into the program.



Step Two: Next, you will need to find a program that is accredited for x-ray technicians. You will need to get an associate's degree as well. Most programs can take between two and four years to complete. Thos e that have experience in the health care field are able to take the one year program.

Step Three: Last, you will need to get certification. In order to get your certificate, you will have to meet the standards of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. They require that you have education, ethics and examination. You will have to have good ethics, be a graduate of a program that is accredited and take and pass the certification exam.
