With communities being plagued by substance abuse, it is growing more and more relevant for substance abuse educators to be trained and hired. Their role is to teach people about the dangers of using illegal substances. They are required to help prevent substance abuse in the communities they work in. If this if a field that you would like to enter into, you will need to have patience dedication to help your community.

You will need to begin researching how you can obtain a certificate to be a substance abuse educator. Make sure that when you find a program that it is accredited. You may find some within universities and community colleges. They are usually a part of other programs that teach about mental health, education, psychology, social work and health.

Next, you will need to learn all you can about the different substance abuse organizations and resources that are out there. Begin speaking with people that work in drug education.
