To become certified to teach CPR, you will have to train for CPR and how to instruct it to others. The demand for teachers in this field has increased since many professions require employees to know how to do CPR.
The first step to becoming certified to teach CPR is to get trained to do CPR. Make sure that the card hasn’t expired. You will then need to get in touch with the Red Cross in your area to recertify whenever you need to. You can take a course online (costs a small fee), or you can go to a physical location to learn.
After you have become certified in CPR, you will have to speak with your teachers to see what it’s like being an instructor. Ask about the stress levels, compensation, time and effort involved.
Next, you will need to do a bit of research for the position. You can call the American Red Cross or American Heart Association to find out what steps are required to initiate your certification for being a CPR instructor.
Now, you will need to take the CIC, or core instructor course. This can be done online, on CD-Rom or in a traditional classroom environment. If you want to study at home, you will need to get the CD-Rom or online course.
Once you complete the course, you can take some teaching courses. After certification, you can begin looking for work in the field.
