There you will find a tab that says Get Certified; next, scroll down and click on the Nutrition & Wellness Consultant Certification link. Read through the details about the program to see if it is something that you're interested in. The nutrition certification is obtained online and costs $395. In order to get into this program, you will need to have a high school diploma.
You will be delivered a package from them that includes two textbooks, four audio instructional CDs, an exam and an interactive CD for computers. You will need to read and study through the material you have been provided with. Make sure to take advantage of the resources that are available to you online. You can find these within the textbooks. The resources will help you with your studies and will provide summaries of the chapters.
You will need to study for the nutritionist certification and take the exam, then mail it back to the AFPA, so that they can grade it. You will be tested for your knowledge in nutrition and a variety of other things. There are 200 multiple choice questions, true and false questions and short answer questions. You will need to obtain a 90 percent or higher. If you don't pass, you will be able to retake it one time within two months. Once you pass, you will get your certificate to work in the field.
