PTA Jobs description
The PTA or the Physical Therapy Assistant assists the PTA in the treatment rendered to various types of patients. PTAs help patients suffering from injury or disease to restore the function, and improve mobility. They relieve pain with the use of antiseptics and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities. In addition, PTAs promote patients' overall fitness and health. PTAs work with physical therapists and other healthcare teams that include physicians, occupational therapists, and psychologists. They are employed by hospitals, nursing homes, or rehabilitation centers. PTAs help massaging patients to improve muscle condition; apply ice to reduce swelling or heat to relieve pain; and utilize therapeutic equipment. The treatment consists of many machines such as whirlpool baths, ultrasonic machines, and ultraviolet and infrared lamps.The PTA job candidate should participate in accredited physical therapy programs which offer both master's degrees and doctorates in physical therapy. To be licensed, graduates of accredited programs must pass state examinations.
