X-Ray Jobs description

X-Ray technicians are also known as radiology technologists or radiographers. The technicians explain the X-Ray procedure to patients, and prepare patients for the procedure. They position them for the best possible outcome of the intrinsic parts of the body. Some X-Ray techs specialize in other diagnostic testing like CT (computerized tomography) scans and MRIs (magnetic resonance imaging). Additionally, X-Ray techs operate the testing equipment, develop X-Ray films, repair diagnostic equipment, and keep patient's testing records. All X-Ray techs must observe proper safety procedures to avoid unnecessary exposure to harmful radiation. Most X-Ray techs work for affluent hospitals since large healthcare organizations only can afford the expensive testing equipment the most. However, a number of private testing centers are opening up across the country.

X-Ray Job candidates can opt for a one year certificate, two year associate's degree or a four year bachelor's degree, although the associate's degree is the most common. Most schools are accredited with the Joint Review Committee on Education in radiology Technology, or with individual states.
