The Orthopedic Technician is responsible for providing care and support to patients under the direction of the physician and/or mid-level provider.  Contributes to the planning and delivery of patient focused care.  Applies and removes orthopedic appliances, including casts, splints, and braces.
 
 

Assist with diagnostic tests and clinical procedures to appropriate level of training and established procedures.
Follow physician direction to prepare, apply and remove orthopedic appliances, including casts, splints and braces.
Provide education on proper care and use of orthopedic soft goods, equipment, and materials.
Maintain inventory of orthopedic supplies and equipment.
Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment.
Assist in applying traction and trapeze equipment for patient use.
Work alongside physician to complete fracture reductions.
Perform patient care procedures as directed.
Schedule patient appointments as determined by establish protocols.
Participate in special projects or completes other duties as assigned.

Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):
 

High school diploma or equivalent required.
 



Experience (required and preferred):
 

2 years related experience as Orthopedic Cast Technician required.
Verifiable and demonstrable orthopedic cast clinical skills documented by practicing physician to assure patient safety required.
