Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington is recruiting a full time Radiologist to join our care team of 28 radiologists. This position offers multidisciplinary collaboration with a collegial team of dedicated and talented providers and staff and the opportunity to teach in our radiology residency program.
Position Highlights
Team Approach to Breast & Diagnostic Imaging. The breast imaging department collaborates to provide comprehensive screening, diagnostic and interventional services for a wide variety of patients. We provide tomosynthesis, automated breast ultrasound screening (ABUS), stereotactic biopsy, wire-localization, MRI and MR-guided biopsy services. Radiologists participate in all breast imaging services and support tumor board conferences. Approximately 400 cases of breast cancer are treated each year. This position also includes general radiology work (e.g., chest radiographs and plain films) and ability to supervise and interpret ultrasound exams. There is also flexibility to read in other areas of diagnostic radiology if that is desired.
Integrative Breast Cancer Care Line. The breast imaging team enjoys a face-to-face and first name relationship with in-house medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists and pathologists. All members of the team work for Virginia Mason and have the same cultural approach to care: the patient comes first. Virginia Mason also supports multiple breast clinics staffed by ARNP’s who see patients urgently and communicate biopsy results. Our team also includes genetic counselors and risk assessment.
Teaching Program. Virginia Mason supports residency programs in radiology, anesthesiology, surgery and internal medicine. The radiology faculty have come to Virginia Mason to teach and it is a valued and important part of our mission. Teaching is a requirement and a highlight of what we do at Virginia Mason. Residents cover the hospital radiology service in-house on weeknights from 7:30 pm until 7:30 am and on weekends from 5:00 pm to 7:30 am. There is no overnight, in-house call for attending radiologists.
Innovation. Innovation is encouraged at all levels at Virginia Mason and faculty have the opportunity to learn and apply the principles of the Virginia Mason Production System (VMPS). VMPS is unique in health care and has earned numerous health care quality, innovation and safety awards.
Research Opportunity. Research is not required but encouraged and supported. Virginia Mason runs numerous clinical trials through partnership with the Benaroya Research Institute, renowned for discoveries in auto-immune disease. Internal pilot grants are available. The Virginia Mason Center for Health Care Improvement also supports publication of innovations in health care delivery.
Career Growth. The breast imaging section, radiology department and other departments within the medical center are dedicated to training and developing leaders from within the organization for clinical leadership roles.
Compensation. Includes competitive salary, vacation, retirement and health benefits, and faculty education allowance.
BC/BE in diagnostic radiology
Fellowship in breast imaging or greater than 5 years’ experience in breast imaging
Ability to obtain a medical professional license in the State of Washington
Ability to obtain a DEA with full prescriptive authority needed for specific practice
