Responsibilities

Job Summary:

Oversees and provides executive leadership to the nursing organization. Responsible for the alignment of regional markets to the nursing ministry wide function standards aligning with the Ascension 3-year dynamic plan.

Reports to Regional Operating Officer, dotted line report to the SVP, Nursing/CNO.

Responsibilities:

Provides leadership and guidance & input regarding development and implementation of scope and standards of nursing practice in alignment with ANA, AONL and nursing professional society recommendations.

Provides input into the development and oversight of the implementation of policies, procedures and initiatives for patient experience, nursing engagement and patient throughput and staffing/productivity. Drives the use of nursing leadership evidence based practices and accountability for nurse retention and wellbeing.

Provides support and partnership with systemwide regulatory activities including proactive mock surveys, creating a culture of ongoing readiness and supporting regional teams in the event of citation response.

Provides oversight of the overall direction and coordination of Quality initiatives in the nursing ministry wide function with strong collaboration with our CNS and interdisciplinary partners. Fosters the use of EBP Implementation science related to Nurse driven indicators such as CAUTI, CLABSI, HAPI, Falls as well as other clinically relevant opportunities identified with our CNS partners.

Provides leadership and implementation oversight of programs, projects, and operations, in all areas of Clinical Professional Development for respective regions.

Organizes nursing leadership governance structures in each ministry of responsibility, providing oversight, direction and accountability.

Drives activities and implementation to improve associate recruitment and retention results in support of the mission of Ascension. Key activities include leadership training and development, active employee retention, culture of safety standards, feedback from stakeholders, career coaching, career laddering, performance based evaluations, alternative care models, and alignment with higher education institutions.

Requirements

Complexity of Work:

Within the scope of the job, it requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able maintain self regulation in a stressful environment.

Travel to markets of responsibility required.

Personal Protective Equipment :

Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Certification/Licensure:

Required Credential(s):

Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in nursing or diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.

Master's degree or combination of Bachelor's degree and experience preferred

Experience Required:

5 years of experience required.

10 years of experience preferred

2 years of leadership or management experience required.

5 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
