MEDICAL ASSISTANT I CERTIFIED - UNC COVID VACCINE CLINIC','MED003S6','!*!Job Summary:The Medical Assistant I, Certified provides routine clinical and administrative support to providers and other health care team members in a COVID-19 vaccination clinic. The Medical Assistant I, Certified works under the clinicalsupervision of the provider for patient care activities, and under the general direction of the designated manager/supervisor for non-clinical responsibilities.Description of Job Responsibilities:1. Performs rooming and/or intake process, collecting necessary data needed to complete patient visit.2. Reviews patient’s current allergies.3. Prepares/reconstitutes COVID-19 vaccine for administration following strict guidelines per vaccine manufacturer.4. Administers COVID-19 Intramuscular vaccinations following manufactures guidelines and hospital policy.5. Ensures exam/procedure room contains appropriate supplies, equipment, forms and educational materials are available and ready for use during visit.6. Provides patient with after-visit COVID-19 educational materials. 7. Prepares, cleans, stocks and maintains exam rooms.8. Monitoring patients post vaccination for possible reactions.9. Assists with patient registration, check in/check out. 10. Answers clinic telephone and assists in-basket under the direction of a provider or nurse.11. Enters orders for vaccine and documents administration in EPIC.12. Assists in emergency situations as directed by a provider or nurse.','!*!Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assisting program accredited by either the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accreditation Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) is strongly preferred but not required. Prior medical assistant or medical assistant externship experience preferred.Requires Medical Assistant certification by either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Healthcareer Association (CCMA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA). Prefer candidates with current Basic Life Support Certification from American Heart Association at the time of hire. If selected candidate does not possess BLS, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
