Care Assistant Health Unit Coordinator, Float Pool','Part-time','Clinical Support','7a','7a','0','0','Every Other','Every Other','KENTUCKY-LEXINGTON-SAINT JOSEPH HOSPITAL','','!*!Position Summary:  Provides patient care under the supervision of licensed staff, Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager, Unit Manager or Director of Nursing.  Organizes and promotes efficient workflow within the unit.  Acts as a communication liaison by greeting all internal and external customers to proactively meet service requests and to promote positive customer relations. ','!*!Requirements/ Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED required.  
Effective September 1, 2017, current BLS through the American Heart Association, or a previously approved provider, will be required before employment.
Requires certification from an approved nursing assistant course, previous experience as a nurse assistant, or one completed semester of healthcare related clinical experience.  Prefer one year of secretarial experience and previous exposure to medical terminology.  Be proficient in keyboarding and possess good Windows platform computer skills.  Maintains designated hospital competencies validated by the Competency Based Orientation (CBO) plan.  Demonstrates a strong belief and behaviors consistent with the Saint Joseph HealthCare Mission and Core Values (Reverence, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence).  
Adequate conversational English is required in order that the individual be able to take direction from management, understand how to complete job tasks, communicate adequately with patients and co-workers as necessary, understand and follow safety guidelines, and understand the Associate Handbook and all hospital policies. 
 
Working Relationships:  Reports to the manager and is responsible to the LPN or RN for delegated assignments.  Daily contact is with co-workers, managers, social services, medical staff, students, clergy, patients, families, visitors, volunteers and the general public.  May have contact with members of the Health Care Delivery team such as students, medical staff, physical therapy, respiratory, etc. as well as medical representatives, interns, externs, insurance agents, representatives of licensing/regulatory boards and physician offices.   
 
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions: 
Physical coordination, mobility, verbal articulation, vision, and learning must be easily performed.  May be exposed to blood, body tissues and fluids regularly, as well as other hazardous waste materials.  Must be able to tolerate environmental temperature fluctuations.  May be exposed to radiation, toxins, dust, cytotoxins, and/or poisonous substances.  May be exposed, periodically, to physical injury, burns, noise, and some electrical hazards.
Must work in a variety of situations and adhere to Hospital policies in accordance with safety requirements, including standard and transmission based infection control and environmental precautions.  Must function appropriately in emergency situations.  Must deal appropriately with aggressive personalities through the use of effective communication and, as needed, use of the chain of command. Must also be able to walk, stand extensively, bend, stoop, squat, visually discriminate close objects, hear and distinguish normal sounds.
Must be able to perform a variety of tasks under stressful conditions with frequent interruptions.  Has the ability to concentrate, set priorities and make decisions while responding to changes in the work environment in a timely manner.  Demonstrates emotional stability when dealing with difficult situations and deals effectively with grief, loss and death.','We’re an equal opportunity employer.
