POSITION SUMMARY:Overall responsibility for managing and oversight of system clinical education initiatives within Central West Texas Division. Interfaces with organizational leadership, community leaders, planning, physicians and internal customers as a community and workforce liaison. Participates in developing action plans to link clinical education/workforce development initiatives to CWT strategic goals and objectives. Acts as a resource to all employees, particularly senior management, to ensure efficient and effective operations of delivery of quality education programs to new cohorts of nurses and current staff to drive improved clinical performance that support the organization’s overall business strategies.
Required: RN with Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Nursing required. Doctorate degree in nursing, education, or related field strongly preferred
Skills: Attainment of wide variety of people skills including a service orientation as demonstrated through examples of written and oral communication. Basic proficiency in computer applications required. Must have demonstrated administrative skills, ability to plan and implement adult education/development programs in a professional setting, ability to use skill assessment methodology, and successful experience as a problem-solver and change agent. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, evidence of public speaking/teaching ability, willingness to work with a variety of people and groups and compassion for newcomers in an organization. Needs to be flexible and capable of independent decision-making. Must be able to swiftly translate ideas and plans into action and results. Can articulate issues related to changing roles and skills in the current health care environment. Experience writing and managing grants desired. Should have knowledge of current trends in workforce development such as vocational/adult education and occupational assessment. Should have ability to gather, organize and evaluate a variety of facts as a basis for programming decisions.
Experience: 10 years of experience in nursing, 5 years of current experience in education in the health care field, preferably in a hospital setting, are required.**
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
Required: RN licensure in Texas.
Certification required; Certified Nurse Educator preferred.
