Director- Transplant Services','Full-time','Director/Manager/Supervisor','All shifts','All shifts','80','80','Occasional','Occasional','IOWA-DES MOINES-MERCY MEDICAL CENTER','','!*!GENERAL SUMMARY: In collaboration with the Transplant Surgical and
Medical Directors and Hospital Administration, provides leadership,
accountability and responsibility for Mercy’s Transplant Program. Responsibilities
include coordination of clinical care across the continuum, strategic planning,
budgeting, quality management, financial analysis and budget
preparation/management, operational
efficiencies, personnel management, coordination of administrative matters and
marketing functions. Ensures compliance with regulatory and industry standards
for Transplant certification.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS:
·
Manages Transplant Services personnel, providing
overall direction of daily activities, performance evaluation, education and
support.
·
Develops, implements and periodically reviews
all policies, procedures and guidelines that support the Transplant
Program. These include, but are not
limited to, JCAHO requirements, CMS, national and state regulations, regulatory
standards, and UNOS regulations.
·
Continuously assesses and improves the service’s
performance based on, but not limited to, quality management plan, clinical
indicators and customer/employee satisfaction data.
·
Accountable for maintaining the UNOS Transplant
Waiting list at this center, data collection, submission and entry, validation
of data and report distribution.
·
Develops annual operating and capital budget,
monitors and analyzes performance and productivity and implements necessary
corrective plans. Utilizes budget
information in management decision-making.
·
Develops an annual operational plan (including
scope of service) integrated with Mercy’s strategic plan and related
department’s operational plans in order to efficiently provide services.
·
Supports and abides by all Mercy policies,
including safety policies and practices.
·
Participates in state and national professional
and related organizations to ensure current knowledge of Transplant Services
operations.
·
Acts as a liaison to the United Network For
Organ Sharing (UNOS) acting as voting representative and program administrator
for this Transplant Center on a regional and national level.
·
Interfaces with the multi disciplinary care
team, maintaining open and positive communication with staff, physicians, and
other hospital departments while serving as a resource and consultant in Transplant
Services.
·
Coordinate Transplant Services educational
activities, including NATCO, UNOS and other professional outreach programs. Ensures
staff education and competency in all phases and functions of a comprehensive
transplant program
·
Integrates current transplant research findings
into practice.
·
Performs other responsibilities as requested by
VP Clinical Services.','!*!MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
·
Possession of a current or compact state license
as a Registered Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
·
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field,
Master’s degree preferred.
·
Attend a transplant related conference every 3-4
years.
·
Minimum of two years Transplant program management
level experience.
·
Demonstrates competency within the area of
Transplant Coordinator.
·
