According to IdahoStatesman.com, Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center has been forced to take new layoff action and reduce their staff by 66. The hospital blames patients' skyrocketing bad debt and charity care for a new round of layoffs.

Eight-bed Franklin House, a crisis center for people with mental illnesses, is also being affecting. The house fell prey to state budget cuts.

According to a news release from the hospital, the layoffs amount to under two percent of the more than 3,400 people who work at the hospital.
