Twenty-three senior management positions were eliminated when New Brunswick merged their eight health authorities. The eliminated positions are in the temporarily named Regional Health Authority B, which is in charge of the English-speaking areas in Saint John, Fredericton, Miramichi, and part of Moncton.
Donald Peters, the CEO of the new authority, is offering the affected employees early retirement or another job in the organization.
The government announced the merger back in March, citing swelling costs and deficits being projected by health authorities. The estimated deficit in March was $55 million.
