Orthopedic Jobs description
The Orthopedic assists physicians and nursing personnel with orthopedic casting procedures to include the application and removal of a variety of casts and splints.He also performs routine examination and treatment procedures to include removing casts, cleaning wounds and applying medications and dressings. Orthopedists are also responsible for the application of mobilization or immobilization devices, like braces, prosthetics, orthotics, and orthoses. Orthopedists are responsible for their adjustment and repair and specialize in fitting and adjustment of canes, crutches, and walkers. Orthopedists also have to fabricate splints for various conditions. He also identifies fractures and dislocations on radiograph films and may perform in an operating room environment under the direct supervision of a physician. Orthopedists may prepare medications under the supervision of a physician or licensed nurse.
Requirements for the post:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited Orthopedic Technology program preferred.
- Ability to articulate descriptions of orthopedic conditions based upon a basic understanding of anatomical structures.
