Physical Therapist Jobs description
Physical therapists help patients suffering from injury or disease to restore the function, and improve mobility. They relieve pain with the use of antiseptics and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities. In addition, Physical therapists promote patients' overall fitness and health. Physical therapists work with other health-care teams that include physicians, occupational therapists, and psychologists. They are employed by hospitals, nursing homes, or rehabilitation centers. Physical therapists may use massage to improve muscle condition; apply ice to reduce swelling or heat to relieve pain; and utilize therapeutic equipment. The treatment consists of many machines such as whirlpool baths, ultrasonic machines, and ultraviolet and infrared lamps. They teach patients how to do exercises with such equipment as pulleys and weights.The physical therapist job candidate should participate in accredited physical therapy programs which offer both master's degrees and doctorates in physical therapy. To be licensed, graduates of accredited programs must pass state examinations.
